Updated over a week ago

This article provides an overview of views within Yeeflow - how to use the view switcher, create new views, and manage views.

This article is primarily focused on list views—to learn more about our other view types, please see the articles for all of the view types.

What is a view?

Views are specific to each individual table in your base; you can use views to show only specific fields or records, and apply other configurations to manage the information in that view. Each view can have its own unique configurations to hide, sort, and filter records within a table.

Creating new views

You can create a new data view by clicking on the + icon next to the existing views in the top left corner of your base.

The "add new view" windows will pop-up, then clicking on the option for the type of view you'd like to create.

You can now choose the name, URL and set view permissions type of your view then finish the process by clicking "OK" button.

Below we created a new list view for keeping track of the active tasks.

Editing views

To change the settings of an existing data view, just click on the three-dot icon next to a view's operation bar. and select "Edit View" from the drop-down menu.

In this example below, we edit the Active tasks view to change the default data sorting.

Duplicating views

Duplicating views can help you make small adjustments to other views that already exist without having to rebuild all of the filtering conditions, groups, hidden fields, etc.

In the example below, we want to create a new view that will only show our Tasks that have been completed. Just click on the three-dot icon next to a view's operation bar. and select "Duplicate View" from the drop-down menu.

Deleting views

To delete an existing data view, just click on the three-dot icon next to a view's operation bar. and select "Delete View" from the drop-down menu.

Searching views

If your data list has a lot of views, it may be helpful for you to use the view search bar. When you click on dropdown arrow for the view switcher, you can enter a search term from the top search box to find the view you're looking for.

Reordering views

To reorder your views, click the dropdown arrow to the left of the view name. Then, mouse over to the left-hand side of the view you wish to move. Click and drag on the reorder button (which resembles a stack of four lines) to its new location.

When users access the data list, it will display the first data view which they do have the access permissions. For example, there are 3 views in a data list, but the current user only has the access permission for view 2 and 3. In that case, when this user access the data list, he/she will see the view 2.

You can also set one data view as the default view. In that case, when users access this data list, the default view will display, no matter in which order this view is set to.

To set a view as the default view, open the editing view page, and check the "Set as default" option as below:

Pro tip

When set a data view as the default view, the view permission of this data view cannot be set as specific users. It will automatically be set to "All users".
