How to Locate Signature Positions in Word Documents for Adobe Sign Action

This article provides useful tips on properly positioning signature fields using Adobe Sign text tags, ensuring a smooth e-signature process

Updated over a month ago

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to locate and configure signature positions in Word documents using Adobe Sign text tags. These tags allow you to define where recipients should sign, enter their names, dates, or provide other information within the document.

This process is a prerequisite for using Adobe Sign Action effectively, ensuring that documents are correctly prepared before they are uploaded for e-signature. If you're looking to integrate Adobe Sign with Yeeflow workflows, refer to our detailed article on How to Use the Adobe Sign Action in Yeeflow Workflow Designer.

By following the steps below, you can create professional documents that are ready for seamless e-signing.

Step 1: Understand Adobe Sign Text Tags

Adobe Sign uses predefined text tags to mark specific fields in the document where signers or recipients need to take action. Below are the most common text tags you can use:

  • Signature: {{_es_:signer1:signature}}

  • Full Name: {{_es_:signer1:fullname}}

  • Date: {{_es_:signer1:date}}

  • Email: {{_es_:signer1:email}}

  • Custom Text Field: {{_es_:signer1:textfield}}

The term signer1 represents the first signer. If there are multiple signers, you can replace signer1 with signer2, signer3, etc., to define the fields for each specific recipient.

Note:

The signing order will follow the sequence configured in the Adobe Sign action within the Yeeflow workflow. Ensure that the order of recipients in your action match the tags used in the document for a seamless signing process.

Step 2: Open the Word Document and Insert Text Tags

Begin by opening the Word document you want to prepare for e-signatures.

  1. Identify the areas where recipients need to interact with the document.

  2. At each location where a recipient interaction is needed, insert the corresponding Adobe Sign text tag.

  3. Double-check all text tags to ensure they are correctly formatted and placed in the document.

  4. Save the document in .docx or .pdf format.

Once the document is prepared, it’s ready to be used in Yeeflow with the Adobe Sign action. There's no need to configure signature locations again, as the Adobe Sign text tags you've added in the document will be recognized automatically during the workflow.
