Understanding Apply type in Yeeflow Data Filter Controls

Yeeflow's "Apply Type" settings in data filter controls offer users tailored control over how and when their data is filtered.

Updated over a year ago

Introduction

In Yeeflow, the efficiency and effectiveness of data filtering are greatly enhanced by the "Apply type" settings available in data filter controls. These settings determine how and when the filter conditions are applied, providing flexibility and control to the users. This article explains the two options available under "Apply type" and offers guidance on when to use each.

Apply Type Options

1. Value Change

This option applies the filter condition immediately when a user changes the value of a filter control. For the Search filter, this is termed "On typing," which activates the filter as the user inputs text into the search box control. This immediate response is suitable for situations where real-time data filtering is crucial.

2. Click on Apply Button

Under this setting, the filter condition does not activate immediately. Instead, it waits for the associated 'Apply' button to be clicked. This option requires selecting an associated 'Apply' button from a subsequent dropdown list. For more details on adding and setting up an Apply button, refer to the Apply Button Introduction Article.

When "Click on Apply Button" is chosen, the filter control's related filter variable value is set only after the associated Apply button is clicked. This option is ideal for scenarios where delayed application of filters is preferred to minimize data refresh instances and enhance performance.

Association with Apply Buttons

Each data filter control can be associated with only one Apply button. However, the filter variable connected to a data filter control can also be linked with another data filter control, which can have a different Apply button set to determine the value of the filter variable.

Choosing Between "Value Change" and "Click on Apply Button"

The choice between "Value Change" and "Click on Apply Button" depends on specific needs and the context of use. If there are multiple data filter controls or if relationships exist between these controls, it is recommended to use "Click on Apply Button." This approach helps reduce the number of data refreshes, thereby improving overall performance and user experience.

Conclusion

Yeeflow's "Apply Type" settings in data filter controls offer users tailored control over how and when their data is filtered. Understanding and correctly implementing these settings can significantly enhance data management efficiency, especially in complex scenarios involving multiple filters and relationships between data elements.
